In the meeting with the journalists in DHMI’s Social Foundations-Complex founded in Florya, General Director Orhan Birdal informed about the works made in 2013 and targets of 2014 and added: “Before 10 years number of domestic passenger in Turkey was 8.5 million. And the number of international passenger was 24.5 million. By the end of 2013, number of domestic passenger is 76 million and international passenger number is 75 million. Our population is 76 million. Approximately nine times passenger has flew this year.”

“Atatürk Airport Will Not Be Shut Down”

Birdal expressing that after the construction of the third airport, Atatürk Airport will not be shut down, “Scheduled flights are not going to be made. There is no any clause about the airport in our agreement. Common aviation services, maintenance and repair services, cargo services will continue. Therefore destruction is out of the question.”

Stating that they are planning to offer service to 375 million passengers in 2023, Birdal said: “We possess about 360 aircraft. It will increase to 750. We have to prepare the catchment are for these aircrafts.
