New Nonstop Route on Air China between DC and Beijing
The flight will go four times a week via a CA817/8 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and on the wings of a Boeing 777-300ER every Saturday. According to the release, the flight departs Washington at 16:35 local time and arrives at 18:15 Beijing time the following day. The return flight leaves Beijing at 13:00 and arrives in Washington at 14:35 local time.
The Star Alliance member currently has nonstop flights to Beijing from Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Houston, and, most recently, Hawaii. This highlights the importance of the new route from D.C., the fact that it will be only the second location on the east coast to offer the direct flight. On a larger scale, the route will be important beyond tourism, connecting the capitals of the world’s two superpowers and no doubt saving business travelers in D.C. a connection through New York City. Air China is currently running a promotion for travel between June 10th and November 30th for $1022 in economy class.
