Turkish Airlines opens Kermanshah route
Turkish Airlines (THY) began its first flight to the western Iranian city of Kermanshah this week, a route which will be the airline’s sixth destination in Iran.
Flights from İstanbul to Kermanshah will be every Wednesday and Friday, while return flights will be on Thursday and Saturday, the company said in an online statement on Wednesday.
THY also flies to the Iranian capital of Tehran, the northern city of Tabriz, Iran’s second largest city of Mashhad, the southern city of Shiraz and the central city of Isfahan.
The new flight comes as THY seeks to become one of the world’s largest international carriers, an ambition which has seen the carrier add flights this month to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Sebha in Libya, Niamey in Niger, Yaoundé and Douala in Cameroon and Vogadugu in Burkina Faso.
One of the world’s 10 largest airlines, THY reported this month that it grew in 2012 by 20 percent, a report this week by the Anatolia news agency stated.
